Andrew Keith is stepping down from his role as CEO of Selfridges to pursue new opportunities. Keith, who joined Selfridges in early 2021 and took on the CEO position in June 2023, previously made significant strides revitalizing Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford department store. His tenure at Selfridges was marked by navigating a particularly turbulent UK retail landscape, characterized by high inflation, recurring COVID-19 disruptions, and the end of tax-free shopping.
During Keith’s leadership, Selfridges advanced its rental and resale services, while preserving the brand’s renowned blend of luxury and accessible offerings. Despite the challenging market conditions, Keith managed to maintain the store’s prestigious reputation and appeal to a diverse customer base.
In the wake of Keith’s departure, André Maeder, CEO of Selfridges Group, will take on additional responsibilities as CEO of Selfridges. Maeder, who joined Selfridges Group in October 2023 following a decade at the helm of Germany’s KaDeWe department store group, is set to guide Selfridges into its next phase. His experience leading a major department store group positions him well to steer Selfridges through this transitional period.
Keith’s departure comes at a time when the retail industry continues to undergo significant transformations, and his legacy at Selfridges includes a noteworthy adaptation to emerging retail trends despite considerable challenges.
